Research
He is a senior lecturer and researcher. He has
been a senior lecturer and researcher in rural business and resource management
at IERM of the University of Edinburgh where he has worked since 1982.
He has particular experience in rural business analysis, primary production
systems and common agricultural policy impacts on these systems. He has
carried out policy evaluations for Scottish office, agriculture, environment
and food department and Scottish enterprise, the latter evalutative study
being particulary concerned with product differentiation and quality assurance
at a national level for cereals. He has been co-investigator of a study
for Scottish enterprise entitled "Evaluation of Scottish quality
cereals initiative" and was also principal investigator of a study
for Scottish office, agriculture, environment and food department entitled
"Evaluation of the hill livestock compensatory allowances scheme".
