Transformation processes in agriculture: examining social relations
of production (including vertical integration), strategies of farm
development and ecological modernisation |
Aim of the project :
As part of this European research project into rural development
practices in 6 countries (Netherlands, UK, Ireland, Germany, Spain,
Italy) an assessment of the economic importance of quality production
(incl. PDO/PGI) was made. Also several in depth case studies of
field experiences with quality production were made: including Parmigiano-Reggiano
cheese, Scalogno di Romagna (both Italy), High quality production
in Wexford (Ireland), new co-operatives for the transformation and
marketing of fruits and vegetables (Basque country) and Regional
quality production on the Wadden isles (Netherlands).
